Amblr Privacy Policy
Effective date: July 24, 2026
Amblr is a step-counting app for iPhone, built to be private by design. There are
no accounts, no signup, and no email address is ever asked for or collected. This
policy explains exactly what data the app handles and why.
Data Amblr collects and why
- Step and motion data. Amblr reads step counts from your
iPhone's built-in motion sensors (with your permission) to show your daily steps,
distance, and calorie estimates. This is the app's core function.
- Apple Health data (optional). If you choose to sync from
Apple Health, Amblr reads your step and flights-climbed history — read-only, and
only when you tap Sync Apple Health. Amblr never writes to Apple Health, and
health data is never used for advertising or marketing, and is never
shared with advertising partners.
- Profile details you enter. Height, weight, and age, used
solely to calculate your distance and calorie estimates.
- An anonymous identifier. On first launch the app generates a
random ID stored securely on your device. It is not linked to your name, email,
phone number, or any real-world identity — Amblr never collects those.
Where your data lives
Your data is stored on your device first, and the app works fully offline. In the
background, the app periodically backs up your step history and profile to our
database (hosted by Convex), keyed only by your
anonymous ID. This backup exists so your history can be restored in the future; it is
never sold, shared, or used for advertising.
Subscriptions
Amblr Pro purchases are processed by Apple and managed through
RevenueCat, which receives your anonymous ID
and purchase status to unlock Pro features. Amblr never sees your payment details.
See RevenueCat's privacy policy.
Advertising
Free users see a single small banner ad served by Google AdMob. Amblr requests
non-personalized ads only: ads are not based on your behavior or
identity, Amblr does not track you across apps or websites, and the app shows no
tracking prompt because no tracking occurs. Your step, health, and profile data are
never shared with advertisers. AdMob may process basic device information to serve
and measure ads and prevent fraud — see Google's
privacy policy. Amblr Pro removes
ads entirely.
What Amblr does not do
- No accounts, emails, phone numbers, names, or passwords are collected.
- No location data is collected.
- No data is sold to anyone.
- No health or fitness data is used for, or shared for, advertising.
- No tracking across other companies' apps or websites.
Your data, your control
- Delete on device: deleting the app deletes all locally stored
data.
- Delete our backup: email us (below) and we will delete the
data associated with your anonymous ID from our servers.
- Permissions: Motion and Apple Health access can be revoked
anytime in iOS Settings.
Children
Amblr is not directed at children under 13 and collects no personal information
that identifies any user.
Changes
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this address with a
